Rory O’Malley, Wesley Taylor & More Join the Off-Broadway Cast of Little Miss Sunshine

The forthcoming off-Broadway production of Little Miss Sunshine is looking even sunnier! Tony nominee Rory O’Malley and Broadway vets Wesley Taylor, David Rasche, Josh Lamon, Logan Rowland and Jennifer Sanchez will join the cast of the new musical at Second Stage Theatre. Based on the 2006 film, the production will star previously announced Tony nominees Stephanie J. Block and Will Chase as Sheryl and Richard Hoover, as well as Hannah Rose Nordberg as Olive. The production will begin performances October 15, with an official opening planned for mid-November.

Directed by James Lapine, Little Miss Sunshine features a book by Lapine and music and lyrics by William Finn. In the new production, O’Malley will play Frank Hoover, the heartbroken and recently dumped Proust scholar and uncle to Olive (Nordberg). Taylor will play his ex-lover, Joshua Rose. Lamon and Sanchez will play Buddy and Miss California, respectively, the co-hosts of the Little Miss Sunshine pageant. Rasche will play Olive’s biggest fan, Grandpa Hoover. Rowland will play Olive’s brother Dwayne, who has taken a vow of silence.

O’Malley is currently starring in Nobody Loves You at Second Stage. He garnered a Tony nomination for The Book of Mormon and has also appeared on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Taylor appeared in The Addams Family and Rock of Ages on Broadway and starred on TV’s Smash. Rasche’s many Broadway credits include The Shadow Box, Loose Ends, Speed-the-Plow and To Be Or Not To Be. Lamon has appeared on Broadway in Elf and Hair. Rowland made his Broadway debut in The Addams Family. Sanchez has appeared on Broadway in West Side Story, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Spider-Man and Ghost.
